DWP Urges 800,000 Pensioners to Claim Up to £10,040 in Unclaimed Credits

The department warns that many retirees overlook entitlements such as Pension Credit or Attendance Allowance that can collectively add over £10,000 to annual incomes.

  • Roughly 800,000 pensioner households are missing out on Pension Credit, which averages a £4,300 boost per year.
  • Guarantee Credit can top up weekly incomes to £227 for singles or £346 for couples, equating to as much as £1,384 each month.
  • Pensioners who became grandparents before April 6, 2017, are eligible for an extra £78.10 weekly for their first dependent and £67.42 for each additional young person.
  • Attendance Allowance or Pension Age Disability Payment can provide up to £441.60 per month for those with care needs, supplementing Pension Credit gains.
  • Claimants who reached State Pension age before April 6, 2016, may also qualify for Savings Credit, offering up to £17.30 weekly for singles and £19.36 for couples.
