Overview
- PIP claimants planning trips abroad longer than four weeks must notify the DWP of departure date, duration, destination and purpose to maintain entitlement
- Both daily living and mobility components of PIP stop after 28 days in an NHS hospital, and the daily living rate also ceases after 28 days in a publicly funded care home
- Absences abroad of more than 13 weeks will pause PIP payments (extended to 26 weeks for medical treatment) and any period beyond the limit will automatically end awards
- Failing to attend scheduled medical assessments or return review forms on time will halt PIP payments until claimants comply, with backdated payments applied once requirements are met
- Daily living and mobility components pay up to £110.40 and £77.05 weekly respectively, and eligibility reforms are under review with no immediate changes due before November 2026
