Overview

  • DWP has removed payslips and P60s from the list of acceptable online documents for Universal Credit identity verification.
  • Universal Credit applications no longer use Government Gateway or Gov.UK Verify and must go through the new verification system.
  • More than seven million claimants across England, Scotland and Wales must meet the updated ID requirements or their applications will remain unprocessed.
  • Applicants who provide two approved ID documents—such as a valid UK passport, recent Self Assessment returns or credit records—can complete verification online and avoid an initial evidence interview.
  • Other accepted verification methods include face-to-face appointments at Jobcentre Plus, documentary submissions and biographical interviews.
