Overview
- The DWP reissued the summer travel warning in late May 2026 telling Personal Independence Payment recipients to phone the PIP enquiry line on 0800 121 4433 (9am–5pm weekdays) if they plan to be abroad for more than four weeks.
- The department warns that failing to notify it of trips over four weeks can lead to entitlement being paused or stopped, so claimants must give departure and return dates to the DWP as soon as possible.
- PIP rates were uprated by 3.8% on 6 April 2026 so weekly payments now range from £30.30 to £194.60 and four-week awards can reach about £778.40.
- The DWP is also progressing proposed reforms to the daily living component that would require four points in at least one descriptor; the changes are being co‑produced with disability groups for completion by autumn 2026 and would only affect people at their next scheduled reassessment.
- Claimants are advised to check their original award letters to find review dates, keep copies of evidence and medical records, and log day‑to‑day impacts now because many awards are long term and Scotland now uses Adult Disability Payment for new and transferred claimants.
