DWP Pilots Limited Online Attendance Allowance Claims

Scotland has moved new pension-age disability claims to PADP, with existing recipients due to transfer by the end of December 2025.

Overview

  • The DWP is temporarily testing an online Attendance Allowance application that accepts only a limited number of submissions each week and must be completed on a desktop or laptop.
  • Postal applications remain available, with updated guidance to write only the Freepost address on the envelope and to send it without a stamp or postcode.
  • In Scotland, new pension-age disability claims are handled through Pension Age Disability Payment, and current Attendance Allowance claimants with Scottish postcodes will be moved to PADP by the end of next month.
  • More than 1.7 million people receive Attendance Allowance across Great Britain, including 155,200 in Scotland, according to the latest DWP figures.
  • Attendance Allowance and PADP pay £73.90 or £110.40 per week (£295.60 or £441.60 every four weeks), are tax-free and not means-tested, and do not include a mobility component.
