• Payments due on Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August will be made on Friday 22 August, with schedules returning to normal after the holiday.
• The change covers Universal Credit, State Pension, Child Benefit, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit and Tax Credits.
• The adjustment applies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, while Scotland follows different bank‑holiday arrangements.
• Minister for Social Security Sir Stephen Timms said bringing dates forward ensures support is in accounts ahead of the long weekend and the new school term.
• Claimants are advised to check accounts on Friday, review Direct Debits, contact the DWP or use Universal Credit journals/helplines for missing payments or budgeting advances, and report scam texts impersonating the DWP to Action Fraud.
