Overview
- Eligible pensioners will get £100, £200 or £300 depending on age and household circumstances, with payments recovered through tax if income exceeds £35,000.
- People born before 22 September 1959 who live in England or Wales qualify under current guidance, while Scotland operates a separate Pension Age Winter Heating payment.
- HMRC will send entitlement letters in October or November, and most payments are scheduled for November or December 2025.
- A new phone line for claims opens Monday 13 October on 0800 731 0160 (Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm), with a final claim deadline of 31 March 2026.
- Normally one payment is made per household and split between partners, but Pension Credit claimants receive individual payments and a partner over the threshold can reduce the other’s amount to £100.
