- The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) implemented a 1.7% increase for Universal Credit and related benefits and a 4.1% rise for the State Pension on April 7, 2025.
- Due to monthly assessment periods, many Universal Credit claimants will see the increased payments starting May 13, depending on when their assessment period began.
- Backpay will be provided to claimants whose increased payments are delayed, ensuring they receive the full entitled amounts.
- The updated Universal Credit standard allowance rates now range from £316.98 for single claimants under 25 to £628.10 for joint claimants aged 25 or over.
- Other benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Carer’s Allowance, and Child Benefit, also saw a 1.7% increase.
