DWD Forecast: Showers and Thunderstorms to Open the Week in Western and Central Germany

Eastern zones face the brunt from Monday afternoon, then a cooler Tuesday precedes gradual clearing by midweek.

Overview

  • Forecasters expect clouds, widespread rain and isolated to frequent thunderstorms to spread east from late Sunday into Monday across North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Hesse.
  • From Monday afternoon the most frequent storms and localized heavy rain are forecast in the eastern parts of the affected states, with gusty winds possible in thunderstorms.
  • Daytime highs are set to reach about 21–24°C on Monday and cool further to roughly 18–21°C on Tuesday in western and central regions.
  • In Hesse the night into Monday turns noticeably cooler with lows around 10–14°C, dropping to about 8°C in sheltered valleys.
  • Conditions are expected to ease from Wednesday with increasing sunny breaks for many areas, though some eastern zones may still see occasional light rain.
