DVSA to accept Apple Pay and Google Pay for roadside fines from May 28

Drivers will see a new payment interface that supports popular mobile wallets for faster roadside fine settlements

Overview

  • Effective 28 May, drivers can settle roadside Fixed Penalty Notices using Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • The updated payment interface will look different but require the same steps to complete on-the-spot transactions
  • DVSA officers issue FPNs for offences such as drivers’ hours breaches, vehicle roadworthiness issues, licensing lapses, weight and load violations, emissions tampering and unsafe conduct
  • Fines range from £50 to £300 per offence and multiple penalties can be issued at once
  • In serious cases vehicles may be immobilised until compliance or payment and foreign operators might need to post on-the-spot deposits
