- Effective 28 May, drivers can settle roadside Fixed Penalty Notices using Apple Pay or Google Pay
- The updated payment interface will look different but require the same steps to complete on-the-spot transactions
- DVSA officers issue FPNs for offences such as drivers’ hours breaches, vehicle roadworthiness issues, licensing lapses, weight and load violations, emissions tampering and unsafe conduct
- Fines range from £50 to £300 per offence and multiple penalties can be issued at once
- In serious cases vehicles may be immobilised until compliance or payment and foreign operators might need to post on-the-spot deposits
