Overview

  • On May 28, the DVSA activated Apple Pay and Google Pay for Fixed Penalty Notices issued at roadside.
  • A third-party payment processor now handles transactions for fines ranging from £50 to £300, cutting down on card processing delays.
  • The streamlined service applies to 14 categories of offences, from driver hours breaches and vehicle defects to licensing and emissions violations.
  • Multiple FPNs can be issued in a single stop and serious breaches may see vehicles immobilised until payments are made.
  • Both UK and overseas drivers must use the system, with foreign operators sometimes required to pay on-the-spot deposits.
