DVLA Number Plate Auction Closes Today at 11 a.m. With Final Bids Surging

Bidding runs on John Pye's DVLA platform, which requires a new account with a 3% buyer's premium.

Overview

  • Lots begin closing at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, October 21) with final bids placed online at dvlaauction.co.uk.
  • Top lot "1 VRK" has climbed to £17,110, while "303 O", "26 DJM", "AUT 15M" and "9999 JP" each currently exceed £11,000.
  • New club-related plates "AR25 NAL" and "HO75 PUR" are listed at £5,010 and £11,060 respectively, and can be assigned only to vehicles first registered after March and September this year.
  • The DVLA holds these sales roughly every eight weeks, releasing more than 2,000 registrations with opening bids from about £70, according to a specialist.
  • Participation now uses John Pye Auctions' system with a 3% buyer's premium, pre‑October 1 accounts are invalid, and winners receive a certificate of entitlement before fitting a legally compliant plate, with misrepresentation risking a £1,000 fine.
