Dutch Far-Right Leader Assaulted Ahead of Election

  • Thierry Baudet, the leader of the far-right Forum for Democracy (FvD) party in the Netherlands, was assaulted with a beer bottle during a campaign event in Groningen, two days before the national election.
  • The assault resulted in minor injuries for Baudet, who was treated at a hospital by a trauma surgeon. A security guard was also injured during the incident.
  • The attacker was arrested, and the motive is currently under investigation.
  • This is the second assault on Baudet in recent weeks, following an incident in Ghent, Belgium, where he was hit over the head with an umbrella.
  • The FvD, known for its Euro-sceptic, Dutch nationalist, and anti-immigration stance, is predicted to win between three and five seats in the upcoming 150-member Dutch parliament election.
