Overview

  • A 37 m × 22 m × 17 m launch shaft at St. Thomas’ School in Khidderpore houses the two Earth Pressure Balancing TBMs.
  • Divya is slated to start its down-line drive this September, enabling twin-tube tunnelling under central Kolkata.
  • After the initial 1.7 km Khidderpore–Victoria tunnel, a 950 m segment will link to Park Street before a cut-and-cover stretch to Esplanade.
  • Metro Railway is collaborating with RVNL and L&T under enhanced safety protocols informed by past urban subsidence incidents.
  • Once complete, the 15.08 km corridor will connect Joka to Esplanade and intersect Blue and Green lines to relieve downtown traffic congestion.
