Overview

  • Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin sent oversight letters to Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino demanding to know why any Epstein documents referencing President Trump were flagged and what happened to those files.
  • A Durbin aide said the directive came from a protected FBI whistleblower and that Bondi also pressured about 1,000 personnel into round-the-clock shifts to review roughly 100,000 Epstein records.
  • Durbin’s letters ask DOJ leaders to reconcile earlier public statements alluding to a “client list” with a joint July 6 memo that confirmed Epstein’s death was ruled a suicide and found no incriminating client list.
  • Attorney General Bondi has filed a motion to unseal grand jury transcripts in United States v. Epstein, subject to redactions of victim-related and personal identifying information.
  • The FBI declined to comment on the Senate inquiry and Durbin has set an August 1 deadline for responses from the three agency heads.
