Overview
- Glentoran confirmed the appointment of former Everton coach Duncan Ferguson on a multi‑year contract and said he has relocated to Belfast to take charge of the first team.
- Gary Bollan, who worked with Ferguson at Inverness, will join as his assistant and the club framed the move as part of a five‑week recruitment drive led by owner Ali Shams Pour and sporting director Paul Millar.
- Pour said the club received a large volume of unsolicited applications during the search and conducted detailed interviews before choosing Ferguson.
- Ferguson brings strong name recognition and a decade of coaching experience at Everton but his two prior full managerial roles produced mixed results, including one win in 18 at Forest Green and a departure from Inverness after the club entered administration.
- The new manager inherits a Glentoran side behind the league leaders and faces pressure to convert the appointment into improved results and trophies while supporters and local figures welcome the profile boost for the Irish Premiership.
