- Diaz's appointment marks his return to the Atlantic Coast Conference and the state of North Carolina, where he spent six seasons on Chuck Amato's staff at North Carolina State.
- Duke's football team is scheduled to face Troy in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 23, with associate head coach Trooper Taylor serving as the interim coach.
