Duisburg Traffic Crackdown Finds 537 Speeders, 13 Bans, Suspected Crimes

Police say the operation exposed offenses beyond speeding.

Overview

  • Officers ran a focused 4 p.m. to midnight operation on Moerser Straße and in the Rheinhausen and Bergheim districts.
  • Speed cameras and patrols recorded 537 speeding violations, checked 81 vehicles and verified 147 identities, resulting in 13 driving bans.
  • A Citroën driver was clocked at over 100 km/h in a 50 zone, and an 18-year-old Ford driver far exceeded a 70 limit and now faces a large fine, two points and a one-month ban.
  • Separate stops produced a criminal complaint for an uninsured Skoda Fabia, the seizure of a VW Passat over suspected sham ownership and a BMW stop that uncovered several hundred untaxed vapes under tax-offense suspicion.
  • Police also confiscated mismatched plates from a parked BMW and initiated forgery proceedings, and weapons-law cases followed checks where knives and a Tilidin tablet were found as follow-up actions proceed.
