Overview
- Targeted controls at popular recreation sites produced 58 warning fines, ten administrative-offense reports, about 290 preventive information talks and 284 parking tickets during the recent control operation.
- Enforcers concentrated on hotspots including Toeppersee, Uettelsheimer See, Meidericher Stadtpark and the Masurenallee at the Sechs-Seen-Platte to prevent dangerous open fires and illegal grilling.
- The Deutscher Wetterdienst uses a five-level Graslandfeuerindex and its level 4 and 5 automatically ban grilling in public grill zones; Duisburg also extends a shisha ban from level 4 upward under local rules.
- Penalties reported range from fines up to €1,000 for general violations to up to €5,000 for forbidden grilling in protected green areas and much larger fines for forest-fire breaches.
- The city council approved a new grill concept to assign numbered grilling spots and require paid online bookings, and the Ordnungsamt says high-presence patrols will continue on warm days while implementation timing is set.
