Overview

  • A new “AI images” dropdown in the Images tab lets users choose whether to show or hide generative visuals in search results.
  • The filter relies on community-curated open-source blocklists, including uBlockOrigin’s “nuclear” list and the uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.
  • DuckDuckGo cautions the filter won’t catch every AI-generated image but says it will significantly reduce unwanted content and that more filters are in development.
  • The upgraded Scam Blocker retrieves Netcraft’s updated malicious-site lists every 20 minutes, runs checks locally, and blocks fake shops, scam surveys, crypto rip-offs and scareware pages.
  • Both tools operate entirely on the user’s device without sending data to external servers, underscoring DuckDuckGo’s privacy-first, user-controlled approach.
