Ducati Unveils Desmo450 EDS as Its First Modern Enduro

Ducati is targeting long‑distance off‑road riders with a reworked 449.6cc desmodromic engine, supplier‑tuned suspension, optional off‑road electronics, an adaptive maintenance system, planned India availability in Q1 2027.

Overview

  • Ducati has launched the Desmo450 EDS, its first dedicated enduro model derived from the Desmo450 MX but reworked for trail and long‑distance off‑road use.
  • The 449.6cc single‑cylinder desmodromic engine is retuned for stronger low and mid torque through a 42 mm throttle body, dedicated camshafts, a lower‑compression piston, a heavier crank and flywheel, and enduro gearbox ratios.
  • Chassis and hardware are purpose built for enduro with a revised aluminium frame weighing under 9 kg made from 11 pieces, Showa suspension with 310 mm front and 301 mm rear travel, Brembo calipers on 260 mm front and 240 mm rear Galfer discs, 21/18 wheels on Metzeler Six Days Extreme tyres, and an 8.5‑litre fuel tank.
  • An optional Ducati Performance racing kit adds off‑road traction control that can auto‑disable for jumps, plus launch control, engine‑brake control, a quickshifter and rider customization via the X‑Link app.
  • The bike includes an adaptive maintenance algorithm that adjusts service intervals based on engine stress and use, shows mid‑level service at about 90–120 hours and full overhaul needs around 180–240 hours, and Ducati says the Desmo450 EDS will reach Indian dealerships in Q1 2027 with pricing to be announced.
