Ducati Taps Bulega to Replace Injured Marc Marquez for Portimao and Valencia

The call-up follows his private Jerez tryout and positions the WorldSBK runner-up for an evaluative stint with the factory team.

Overview

  • Ducati confirmed that Nicolo Bulega will make his MotoGP debut with the Ducati Lenovo Team at next week’s Portuguese Grand Prix and also race the Valencia finale.
  • Marc Marquez remains sidelined by right-shoulder fractures from the Indonesian Grand Prix, ending his season early.
  • Michele Pirro deputised at Phillip Island and Sepang but finished 18th and 17th, leaving Ducati without points in those rounds.
  • Bulega completed his first laps on the Desmosedici GP25 in a private Jerez outing on October 30 during a Michelin WorldSBK tyre test, with no official lap times released after a weather-altered schedule.
  • Bulega is set to become a Ducati MotoGP test rider next season, supporting development work ahead of the series’ planned switch to Pirelli tyres in 2027.
