Overview

  • Dublin Fire Brigade said four fire engines, a foam tender and a water tanker responded to the incident near the IFSC.
  • Service ducts carrying electrical and network cables as well as gas mains burned under the bridge, and the fire was contained to that area.
  • Firefighters continued damping down in the George's Dock basin after bringing the blaze under control.
  • Crews used a 70mm hose to protect nearby exposures and drew additional water from the River Liffey during the operation.
  • Gas Networks Ireland assisted at the scene, and authorities said it is not yet known whether the cause was gas-related.
