Dublin Airport Lifts 100ml Liquids Limit After Full Rollout of C3 Scanners

New 3D scanners underpin a faster security process after a three-year upgrade.

Overview

  • From midnight on 18 September, passengers may carry liquids and gels in containers up to two litres and leave liquids and electronics inside hand luggage with no clear bags required.
  • Roughly 30 C3 scanners are now operating across both terminals, supplemented by three units in a new secondary screening area on Terminal 1’s mezzanine level.
  • DAA says Dublin is among the first major European airports fully equipped with C3 technology, delivered ahead of a year‑end regulatory deadline and its own October target.
  • Standard checks still apply, including removing belts, ankle‑high footwear and jackets, emptying pockets, and observing prohibitions on sharp items over 6cm.
  • Cork Airport work begins this month as part of a €200m investment, while rules continue to vary at other airports, so travelers are advised to confirm local requirements.
