Dublin Airport Ends 100ml Liquid Rule as New 3D Scanners Go Live Tonight

DAA completed the full C3 rollout ahead of a year-end regulatory deadline, with Cork Airport upgrades beginning this month.

Overview

  • Security now allows liquids and gels to remain in hand luggage alongside electronics during screening.
  • The 100ml cap is replaced by an allowance of containers up to two litres with no limit on item count, and clear plastic bags are no longer required.
  • Around 30 C3 scanners that produce 3D images are operational across both terminals after a three-year, multi‑million‑euro installation.
  • DAA says the upgrade provides the best threat detection available and was finished ahead of the regulator’s year-end deadline, placing Dublin among the first major European airports to be fully C3.
  • Other screening steps still apply, and with rules differing by airport passengers are advised to check guidance, as Cork Airport begins its own C3 upgrade this month.
