Dubai Unveils NYE 2026 Plan: 48 Fireworks, 43-Hour Metro, Phased Closures, Citywide Security

Officials call it the most comprehensive New Year’s Eve operation undertaken in Dubai.

Overview

  • More than 23,000 security personnel will be deployed across the emirate, including 9,884 Dubai Police officers and 13,502 private guards, with 55 entities coordinating under a unified framework.
  • Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines and the Tram will run non-stop for 43 hours from 5am on December 31, with Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station closing to entry from 5pm or earlier if capacity is reached.
  • Road closures start at 4pm on December 31 and expand through 11pm, covering routes such as Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, the Financial Centre roads, and a gradual shutdown of Sheikh Zayed Road.
  • Medical preparations include 236 ambulances, 635 paramedics and about 1,900 medical staff, plus seven medical points and a field hospital with paediatric care near Burj Khalifa.
  • New measures feature first-time drone shows at Dubai Frame, family-only public beaches, parks open until 1am, about 20,000 parking spaces in the Emaar area, 8,000 at metro stations, and free RTA shuttles from Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf.
