Dubai to Open Final World Trade Centre Roundabout Bridge, Completing Five‑Bridge Network

The 1km link is designed to raise capacity, cut intersection delays, and reduce travel times on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Overview

  • The Roads and Transport Authority said the final 1km bridge will open imminently, completing a five‑bridge network that spans about 5km around the World Trade Centre roundabout.
  • The new two‑lane bridge is rated for roughly 3,000 vehicles per hour and is intended to speed traffic from Al Majlis Street to 2nd December Street, shrinking that trip from about six minutes to roughly one minute.
  • RTA estimates the full project cost more than Dh696 million and expects the works to benefit at least 500,000 residents and visitors by cutting average intersection delays from about 12 minutes to 90 seconds.
  • The roundabout works form part of a wider corridor upgrade that links with the Al Mustaqbal Street project, which will add about 1,500 metres of bridges and tunnels and expand lanes to four each way by 2027.
  • RTA director general Mattar Al Tayer said the scheme implements leadership directives to boost connectivity and keep road capacity aligned with Dubai’s growth, a change that should shorten commutes, help event access and improve business mobility.
