Dubai Rolls Out WeRide Robotaxi Pilot on Uber in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

The pilot runs with a safety driver pending a planned driverless rollout in early 2026.

Overview

  • Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority confirmed WeRide Robotaxi rides can be booked in the Uber app by selecting the Autonomous option.
  • The service is open to the public during the pilot and operates only within the Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim districts.
  • The initiative is a partnership between RTA, WeRide as the autonomous technology provider, and Uber as the booking platform.
  • RTA frames the pilot within Dubai’s strategy to make 25% of journeys autonomous by 2030 and says the launch supports regional expansion plans.
  • WeRide reports about 150 autonomous vehicles in the Middle East, including more than 100 Robotaxis, and targets large-scale deployments by 2030.
