Overview
- GDRFA-Dubai officially introduced the Click and Travel service at Dubai International Airport on Monday, September 7, 2026 after trials processed 31,373 passengers.
- The system uses a handheld device that reads e-passports and performs facial and iris recognition while checking identities against GDRFA’s smart-platform databases.
- Authorities say the device can verify travellers in roughly 12 seconds and will be used for spot checks and to relieve queues when terminals are busy.
- Click and Travel is available to all departing passengers now, while arrival use is currently limited to Emiratis and UAE residents with plans to expand and priority for families, children and people of determination.
- The new service complements existing smart gates and the AI 'Red Carpet' corridor as part of a wider smart-border rollout that processed about 26 million passengers through Dubai airports to end of August and aims to speed passenger flow and reduce counter queues.
