Dubai Finalizes New Year’s Eve Security, Closures and Transit Plans

Authorities have detailed closures with extended public transit to manage crowds across more than 40 celebration sites.

Overview

  • Dubai’s Event Security Committee completed field inspections of fireworks sites and confirmed a citywide plan involving 55 partner entities for crowd control, traffic management and emergency response.
  • The Roads and Transport Authority set phased Downtown road closures from 4pm with added restrictions in JBR, while Dubai Metro and Tram will run continuously across New Year’s Eve to ease congestion.
  • Public parking will be free on January 1, 2026, except at multistorey facilities and Al Khail Gate N365, with intercity bus changes including E100 suspension and E101/E102 alternatives.
  • Dubai Municipality extended operating hours at major parks and designated Jumeirah Beach 2, Jumeirah Beach 3, Umm Suqeim Beach 1 and Umm Suqeim Beach as families-only from December 31 to January 1.
  • Dozens of fireworks and drone shows are confirmed, including Global Village’s seven staggered countdowns and Ras Al Khaimah’s 15-minute display using over 2,300 drones in a Guinness World Record attempt.
