Dubai Confirms NYE 2026 Plan With 48 Fireworks, 43-Hour Metro and Phased Road Closures

Officials outline a citywide safety plan built to manage peak crowds across Downtown Dubai plus other viewing sites.

Overview

  • Dubai will stage 48 fireworks across 40 locations, with Burj Khalifa as the centerpiece and first-time drone shows added at Dubai Frame alongside displays at Global Village, Expo City and Atlantis.
  • Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines will run continuously from 5am on December 31 to 11:59pm on January 1, while the Tram operates from 6am on December 31 to 1am on January 2, with Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station closing to entry from 5pm or earlier if crowded.
  • Phased road closures begin at 4pm on December 31 and expand through 11pm, affecting Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, the Lower and Upper Financial Centre Roads, Al Mustaqbal Street, Al Sukook Street and a segment of Sheikh Zayed Road.
  • More than 23,000 security personnel will be deployed across 55 entities, including 9,884 Dubai Police officers, 13,502 private security staff and 1,754 firefighters supported by patrols on roads, waterways and key venues.
  • A field hospital with a pediatric section, 236 ambulance points and 1,900 medical staff are on standby, with about 20,000 parking spaces near Burj Khalifa, 8,000 more at metro stations and free shuttle buses from Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf to help move crowds.
