Dubai Changes Speed Limits on Five Major Roads

RTA cites an engineering study that led to targeted changes, to be enforced through signage with camera reprogramming.

Overview

  • The RTA announced on Wednesday that the new speed limits will take effect on November 1, 2026.
  • Three streets will see higher limits: Al Asayel from 60 to 80 km/h, and Al Mustaqbal and Latifa bint Hamdan from 60 to 70 km/h.
  • Two streets will have lower limits: Al Rebat from 100 to 90 km/h, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah from 80 to 70 km/h.
  • The authority said the changes follow a months‑long engineering and technical study with an international consultant using factors such as traffic volumes, road design speeds and the 85th percentile of observed vehicle speeds.
  • Implementation will involve replacing signs and reprogramming speed cameras in coordination with Dubai Police, and drivers should expect enforcement from the effective date.
