Overview

  • SMN and Conagua say tropical waves 23 and 24 are producing widespread downpours and thunderstorms on Tuesday.
  • Western Oaxaca and western Chiapas are forecast for 75–150 mm, with officials warning of floods, landslides and urban inundation.
  • Strong to very strong rains of 50–75 mm are expected in states including Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Michoacán, Guerrero, Veracruz, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
  • Outlook: wave 23 shifts southwest off Jalisco on Wednesday as wave 24 advances over the southeast, sustaining hazardous rain, gusty winds and 1–2 m Pacific seas through Friday.
  • Concurrent hazards include 40–70 km/h wind gusts in several regions and extreme heat up to above 45 °C in parts of the north.
