DStv Says 12 Warner Channels Will Go Dark on Dec. 31 as Paramount Pulls 4 on Jan. 1

Canal+ ownership is coinciding with tougher carriage negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery.

Overview

  • MultiChoice told subscribers via app notification that Discovery Channel, CNN International, Cartoon Network, TNT and other Warner Bros. Discovery channels will not be available from 31 December 2025.
  • The distribution agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery expires on 31 December and, although talks continue, no renewal has been announced and a blackout could still be averted if a deal is reached.
  • Separately, BET Africa, MTV Base, CBS Reality and CBS Justice are confirmed to leave DStv on 1 January 2026 following Paramount Global’s shutdown of its Africa operations.
  • The list of potentially affected Warner channels spans 12 networks including TLC, Investigation Discovery, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Real Time, Cartoonito and Discovery Family.
  • Subscribers have asked whether fees will be reduced after the channel losses, and while DStv promises new content and services in 2026, it has not responded publicly on pricing.
