Düsseldorf Celebrates 200 Years of Karneval with Festive Altstadt Party

Thousands gathered in Düsseldorf's Old Town for a vibrant celebration featuring parades, live music, and traditions from across the region.

The 200th anniversary of Düsseldorf's Karneval was marked with a large-scale celebration in the city's Altstadt on January 11, 2025.
Participants included over 20 local Karneval associations, as well as visiting groups from Cologne, Bonn, Mainz, and other cities.
The event featured a colorful parade led by the Düsseldorf Prinzenpaar, followed by performances from bands, dance troupes, and Funkenmariechen at eleven designated locations.
Düsseldorf's Mayor Stephan Keller and Comitee Düsseldorfer Carneval President Lothar Hörnig hosted a formal reception at City Hall before the festivities began.
Organizers described the event as a preview of the upcoming Rosenmontag celebrations, emphasizing its success in bringing together diverse communities to honor Karneval traditions.
