The crash occurred at the intersection of Mother Gaston Blvd. and Dumont Ave. in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Natalie Leonard, 28, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, and DWI.
The 1-year-old boy was being held on his mother's lap and was not in a car seat.
The boy suffered a fractured skull and is in critical but stable condition at Brookdale University Hospital.
Both drivers and the boy's mother sustained minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
