Drunk Driver Kills 3, Including Two Toddlers, in Pune Footpath Tragedy

A speeding dumper truck veered off the road in Wagholi, crushing laborers sleeping on a footpath and leaving six others injured.

The accident occurred around 1 a.m. near Kesnand Phata in Pune's Wagholi area, where 12 people were sleeping on the footpath.
The deceased include one-year-old Vaibhavi Pawar, two-year-old Vaibhav Pawar, and 22-year-old Vishal Pawar, all part of a laborer family from Amravati.
Six others, including three critically injured, were hospitalized at Sassoon General Hospital for treatment.
The driver, identified as Gajanan Totre, 26, was allegedly intoxicated and has been arrested on charges of culpable homicide and negligence.
The Maharashtra government has announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the victims' families and pledged free medical treatment for the injured.
