Overview

  • On August 28, Dropbox Passwords will switch to view-only mode, deactivating autofill and blocking new entries in both the mobile app and browser extension.
  • The mobile app will cease functioning on September 11, though stored credentials remain accessible via the browser extension until full deletion.
  • On October 28, Dropbox will fully discontinue Passwords and permanently delete all saved logins, payment data and dark-web monitoring records.
  • Users must export their credentials—either via CSV export in the browser extension or mobile app—before the October deadline to avoid irreversible data loss.
  • Dropbox recommends migrating to established password managers such as 1Password as it refocuses development on its core file-storage and collaboration features.
