Overview

• On Monday afternoon, about 25 suspects stormed Heller Jewelers at City Center Bishop Ranch, smashing cases with crowbars and pickaxes and taking roughly $1 million in merchandise.
• An automatic security door locked behind the group and at least one shot was fired through the glass to get out, according to police.
• Drone footage from a 2023 retail-theft grant, along with surveillance and bystander videos, helped identify vehicles and led to seven arrests in Oakland and at the Dublin BART station.
• Those arrested, all from Oakland and ages 17 to 31 including a juvenile, are suspected in similar Bay Area crimes; officers recovered two guns and some discarded jewelry, and several getaway cars were reported stolen.
• Detectives continue to seek remaining participants and are treating the raid as part of a wider pattern of about 30 violent jewelry store robberies reported in California since March.
