Driver’s trial over baby’s death in Tenby car park postponed to January 2026

Judge Catherine Richards granted a delay to allow more expert evidence to be gathered with Flaviu Naghi freed on bail

  • Flaviu Naghi faces charges of causing six-month-old Sophia Kelemen’s death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs.
  • Sophia was struck on January 2 in a multi-storey car park in Tenby and died the next day after emergency treatment at the University Hospital of Wales.
  • A Pembrokeshire coroner’s inquest recorded an intracranial haemorrhage as the cause of her death.
  • Judge Richards agreed on June 2 to adjourn the trial until January 5, 2026 to allow for further expert testimony.
  • Naghi was released on bail at the Swansea Crown Court hearing where Tom Crowther KC and John Hipkin KC appeared for the prosecution and defence respectively.
