Driver Rescued After SUV Submerges in Ocean at Newport Beach

Emergency responders successfully saved a driver from a submerged vehicle at Corona del Mar State Beach as investigations continue.

Newport Beach Police rescued a driver from an SUV found submerged in the ocean early Saturday morning at Corona del Mar State Beach.
The vehicle was discovered partially underwater and being rolled by waves around 5:30 a.m., presenting challenging rescue conditions.
The rescued individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Public Works teams used heavy equipment to remove the SUV from the water before it was towed away.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the SUV entering the surf.
