Driver Re-Arrested in Wimbledon School Crash That Killed Two Eight-Year-Old Girls

The 48-year-old woman is accused of causing death by dangerous driving after a review highlighted flaws in the initial investigation.

The crash occurred in July 2023 when a Land Rover Defender drove into The Study Prep School in Wimbledon, killing two eight-year-old girls, Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau, during an end-of-term event.
The driver was initially arrested at the scene but faced no charges after it was determined she had experienced an epileptic seizure for the first time while driving.
A review by the Specialist Crime Review Group found significant shortcomings in the original investigation, prompting the case to be reopened in October 2024 under the Specialist Crime Command.
The driver was re-arrested on January 28, 2025, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody as the new investigation progresses.
Police have appealed for witnesses who were in the area at the time, particularly those who may have seen the distinctive gold Land Rover Defender prior to the collision.
