- Greater Manchester Police say a single vehicle struck the Irlam Locks roundabout on Cadishead Way at about 7:15am on December 31, causing the 48-year-old driver to veer off the road and die at the scene.
- The passenger, a 50-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
- Specialist collision investigators maintained a large cordon and a police tent at the site as forensic examination continued through New Year’s Eve.
