• Troopers responded around 4 p.m. Monday to the eastbound lanes at the 13-mile marker, about a mile east of the I-65 interchange.
• State police say the truck was traveling in the right lane before veering left for unknown reasons into the median wall and an overhead signpost.
• The impact ignited the cab, trapping the driver who died at the scene, and the trailer was thrown over the median into westbound lanes.
• The Lake Station Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and the Lake County Coroner is working to identify the deceased driver.
• The Indiana Department of Emergency Management was contacted over burning oil entering the sewer system, and by about 7 p.m. traffic in both directions was restricted to the right shoulder.
