Driver in Orsay Pedestrian Collision Arrested After Fleeing Scene

Two elderly victims remain in critical condition after being struck by a speeding car while crossing a pedestrian walkway in Essonne.

Three retirees, aged 74 to 89, were hit by a speeding car on a crosswalk in Orsay, Essonne, on Thursday afternoon.
Two victims, a 75-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman, are in critical condition, while a 74-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver fled the scene after initially exiting the vehicle but was later apprehended Thursday evening and placed in custody.
Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing the driver losing control of the vehicle at high speed before striking the victims.
Authorities confirmed the driver lacked a valid license, and the investigation is being led by the Palaiseau police under charges of involuntary injury and hit-and-run.
