Driver Fleeing Police Injures 10 in Manhattan on New Year's Day

A 44-year-old man fleeing police in Manhattan drove onto a sidewalk, injuring at least 10 people, including three police officers.
The incident occurred early on New Year's Day, shortly after the city's New Year's Eve celebrations.
The driver collided with pedestrians and a food truck at West 34th Street and Ninth Avenue, after initially fleeing from police near Madison Square Garden.
The most seriously injured was a 39-year-old woman who was pinned beneath the food truck; she and six other pedestrians are in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.
The driver is hospitalized in critical but stable condition; charges are pending.
