- Officers responded around 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 1 to 119th Avenue NW and Northdale Boulevard NW after a vehicle was hit by a freight train.
- First responders extricated the lone driver from the car and transported the person to a hospital.
- BNSF later reported the driver died from injuries sustained in the collision.
- Coon Rapids Police and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
- No injuries were reported among the train crew, and the crossing features gates, flashing lights and bells.
