Overview
- The crash occurred at about 1:20 p.m. June 10 on Conley Road near Morganton when a Chevrolet HHR pulling from a driveway turned into the path of a northbound Nissan Altima.
- The impact sent the Nissan into a front-yard lemonade stand where three girls, ages 7 to 9, were critically injured.
- Haley Erin McCorkle, of Hickory, was charged with failure to yield the right of way causing serious bodily injury.
- Two of the injured girls were airlifted to area hospitals and the third was transported by ambulance and is now recovering at home.
- The North Carolina Highway Patrol’s investigation found no evidence of driver impairment or excessive speed.
