- Authorities identified the driver as 27-year-old Steven Zapata of El Monte, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and will be booked after he is medically cleared.
- The collision happened just after 3 a.m. Thursday at West Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive when an Alhambra patrol SUV and a suspected stolen Hyundai SUV crashed during a pursuit.
- Officer Alec Sanders, 28, died at Los Angeles General Medical Center, and passenger Gabriela Moreno, 42, was ejected from the Hyundai and pronounced dead at the scene.
