Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After De Soto Rollover Seriously Injures 6-Year-Old

Deputies say the 25-year-old driver showed signs of impairment, prompting a DUI arrest.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the 9700 block of Sunflower Road south of K-10 in De Soto.
Deputies say Jeyson Carabantes-Deras, 25, lost control, overcorrected, and the vehicle rolled.
A 6-year-old girl riding as a passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Carabantes-Deras was arrested after field sobriety testing on suspicion of driving under the influence, aggravated child endangerment, and aggravated battery.
He is also being held on suspicion of leaving the scene of an injury crash and driving while suspended, as the investigation continues.
